Amidst the chill of winter, BCA held its Winter Pep Rally on Friday, February 9th. The Winter Pep Rally is organized by the BCA student council and aims to boost school spirit through team celebrations and lively competitions. This year, the Winter Pep Rally’s itinerary included introducing the new student council, celebrating BCA’s winter sports and academic teams, and BCA Jeopardy.
After an incredible performance of The Star Spangled Banner by junior Danny Adcock, the pep rally began with farewells from the former student council. Arham Shah, former BCA Student Council President, and Angela Li, former BCA Student Council vice president, shared their final remarks and reminisced on the different initiatives they were able to accomplish over the past year. This includes sophomore and freshman grade-wide lunch periods, new seating areas around BCA, and free food giveaways. They then passed down the torch and introduced the next BCA student council to the school.
Following the student council introduction, Sam Seneres, student council president, and Ashley Weil, student council treasurer, began announcing the BCA student teams that will be making their way onto the stage. The winter sports teams included girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys’ fencing, indoor track and field, competitive cheer, and boys’ and girls’ bowling teams. Following winter sports, three academic teams took the stage, including the math, debate, and robotics teams. Each team brought a distinctive flair or performance to the stage, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among the student body.
One standout element of the pep rally was the robots on stage brought by the BCA robotics team. The whirring of gears and flashing lights added to a unique performance, leaving students buzzing with enthusiasm.
Aanya Gandhi, a sophomore in ABF, expressed her excitement after seeing the robots maneuver across the stage. “It was great to witness the incredible talent and innovation of our robotics teams, and it added a whole new level of excitement to the pep rally.”
As the student council prepared for BCA Jeopardy, BCA teacher Mr. Madden began to fire up the T-shirt cannon into the audience. Cheers erupted across the auditorium as colorful shirts soared through the air. Students eagerly reached out, hoping to catch one of the precious t-shirts.
The competitive spirit continued with a lively game of BCA Jeopardy. Teams of five from different grades went head-to-head, showcasing their knowledge and collaboration across various categories. The questions covered everything from BCA school history to pop culture.
With a landslide win, the seniors emerged victorious, claiming the title and bragging rights as BCA Jeopardy Ultimate Champions. “Some of those questions were pretty hard; I really had to put on my thinking cap,” said Eesha Bhatia, a senior at ABF. “Being on stage is always a lot of fun, and of course [the seniors] won!”
From the innovative robots on stage to the exhilarating T-shirt cannon launch and the competitive Jeopardy game, the BCA Winter Pep Rally left a lasting impression of unity within the school community.
