“What’s the best tasting food in the world?” This question can easily get people arguing with each other. With the world population near 8 billion and more than 190 countries, it’s not surprising to find many people from different cultures and backgrounds disagreeing on which food tastes the best. In fact, after spending some time reading food ranking articles online, it became more clear that there was no winner to this argument.
The Academy Chronicle was interested whether BCA students have an unanimous choice as to their favorite food. We sent out a survey to all the students, and given a list of 9 foods, we asked them to rank their favorites. The first choice receives 5 points, the second choice receives 4, the third receives 3, and so on. After compiling all the data and why they picked their favorite food, here are the awaited results:
09. Burrito
“Burritos are multiple foods in one and you can choose what you want in them.”
Burrito received the lowest amount of points (72), but 3 students picked this food as their favorite.
08. French Fries
“it’s just a lighter food compared to the others which still allows me to feel full.”
French Fries is also low on the ranking with just 86 total points. 3 students picked French Fries as their favorite.
07. Spaghetti
“I really like noodles in general, and a good spaghetti pasta has attributes that I like. The noodles soak up the taste of the tomato sauce and the tomato sauce is reasonably salty.”
Spaghetti is next on the ranking with 108 total points and 4 students picking the food as their favorite.
06. Tacos
“it’s very versatile and can be made a variety of ways”
Tacos are on #6 with 120 total points, with 5 students saying tacos are the best.
05. Fried Chicken
“I just love fried chicken its crispy and crunchy and juicy and filling”
Fried Chicken barely made #5 with 127 total points, which is just 7 points over Tacos. The difference maker was the 8 students who picked this food as their favorite.
04. Burger
“I love burgers. They are so customizable and having a juicy bite of beef, onion, tomato, lettuce, and pickles just hits different.”
Burger stayed neck to neck with Fried Chicken at #5, but it received much more points in the 2nd rank category to give Burger #4 with 136 total points.
Burger had 7 students picking this food as their favorite, which means they received less favorite votes than students picking Fried Chicken.
03. Pizza
“Pizza is a classic”
Pizza had impressive 150 total points, which puts them at #3. We had 10 students saying pizza was their favorite food.
02. Ramen
“Noodles are warm and filling! Ramen broth comes in many different flavors so you can find one that suits your taste.”
Ramen comes in #2 with 179 total points. Ramen came in #1 in the 2nd place ranking category, but failed to secure the #1 ranking overall. Ramen received 12 students’ favorite vote.
01. Sushi
“In Japan’s embrace, where oceans meet the land, A culinary masterpiece, so carefully planned. Sushi, a creation of elegance and grace, Delights the senses with each delicate embrace. So, why is sushi so amazing, you ask? It’s a symphony of flavors, a culinary task. With every bite, a story unfolds, Of tradition and passion, in each roll it holds.”
Here’s your BCA favorite food winner! The quote by this one BCA student says it all.
Sushi received #1 with 198 total points. This food was the favorite food of 28 students, giving them a jaw-dropping 140 points from the first place ranking category.
